Easter 2015

Easter was a bit colder this year than last. Last year I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, while this year we were bundled up a tad more in pants and long sleeves AND a jacket. It didn't take us long to warm up that day, as we did some running around playing games in the Meeuwsen's backyard.
I love the color coordinated eggs for each kid. All the kiddos are searching so hard and yet they still need our help so we are all yelling out to them, 'Austin over here!'   'Ava look by this tree!!'.
And some of them are still young enough to need an 'egg-hunting chaperone'.

I busted out my camera for the egg hunt but that was about the only time it came out. We were either inside keeping warm and letting the kids play in the basement, or we were running around chasing them and playing tag and red rover!
The kites are always a huge hit with the kiddos.
And of course the bubbles too.
Austin was blowing bubbles at the other kids and he was just a gigglin' away. Each and every time he blew some and the kids popped them, he thought it was about the funniest thing ever. I just love those deep down belly laughs.

He is surely growing up a tad too fast. And those eyelashes!? they slay me. And don't think that Austin voluntarily will wear that button down. It's a bit of a fight. Just on the holidays do I bust out a cute button down but I have to PROMISE him that we can change after church. He usually forgets about that part and wears the shirt the entire day. He is my comfy guy. He loves t-shirts and comfy pants. I don't remember the last time I was able to get Austin to wear a pair of jeans. Every year, I somehow forget that Austin will battle me for jeans, so I buy him another pair and they sit on his shelf.
It's a good thing he's so darn cute.

We have to cherish these years with the kiddos all being small enough to enjoy the Easter egg hunt. It won't be long and they'll all be 'too cool' to do it. Maybe we can do one for the adults then. They can all roll their eyes as the adults hunt for eggs with something else in them. Although mine would still be filled with candy. It's my favorite holiday only for the fact that those mini cadbury eggs and sour jelly beans come out and I hoard them everywhere. Its well past Easter and I still have sour jelly beans that I am trying to savor.

Another trip to the Butterflies

I love that the butterflies happen so early in the year. It happens right when we are struck with cabin fever so bad that the ridiculously humid air and all the bright flowers are just what we need.
Austin's main obsession was touching and holding each and every butterfly that flew past him. With the butterfly expert as a Grandpa, he got his wish at least 5 times.

He might just be kinda happy here.

Ava still wants nothing to do with touching butterflies. Something about them makes her kinda skiddish when they come close.
Truly best friends.

It only takes like 15 minutes for us to zoom through the exhibit and then the kids are begging to go to the cafeteria. I would too if I knew that it contained every yummy snack available. Not only that, but then to know that the gift shop awaits them.....it's like heaven. It's possible that next year we will only be in the exhibit 5 minutes. They just aren't as interested as I would think they would be. That's ok. I love making the stop yearly anyway. The kids are looking forward to going back in the summer for the splash pad/boats. I'm just looking forward to anything remotely close to summer. Warm up Michigan!! PLEASE!!
